Man's own resinous heart has fed
William Butler Yeats, "Two Songs From a Play"

Biographical

Robert Jerome Stirnkorb (Jerry) born March 31, 1943 Columbus (GA) Fort Benning. My father was the contractor for the
Noah’ s Ark Restaurant in North Leucadia (soon to be a Sheraton Hotel),

then moved us to La Jolla where I attended Stella Maris Academy 1949-1956 and St Augustine High School 1956-1960. I learned to surf in 1953 on a homemade board . My mentor was Jim Fisher, originally from Santa Cruz, who rode the largest wave ever then photographed at Makaha, in 1958.

I developed a lifelong passion for surfing, poetry, and literature.

I graduated from San Diego State University in 1966 with Honors, (English Literature). Received NDEA (National Defense Education Act) Graduate Fellowship University of Utah.

1967-1971 Worked for Vallecitos Development Company. Got real estate license . Built first house in Del Mar.

1972-1979 Principal Santana Development Company Inc. Developed my own projects. Moved to Cardiff. 1972 Married Marguerite! California Coastal Act passed by voters. All my projects stopped. 1973. Secured 13th coastal permit issued in San Diego County. 1975- 1977: Principal Summit Homes Inc. Built subdivisions, specs, land projects.

1980-1985. The Stirnkorb Company. Independent land use consultant, developer, broker. Lobbyist for San Diego County Flower Growers Association contra Coastal Commission. Land planning for major developers, land partnerships. Lobbyist state and county wide and political fundraiser. 1984 Developed first mobilehome park condominium. Involved in multiple political, land use, and zoning battles, made money.

March 26 1985, had something of a spiritual awakening, and went surfing again.

Since then my life has changed. My wonderful son Andrew was born. December 2, 1986.. I have been a National Advisory Board Member at McDonald Center Scripps Memorial Hospital, La Jolla, a graduate student in the MA Program University of California San Diego 1986-1990. I surf again after a 10 years hiatus.

Chileno Bay, Los Cabos, B.C. Sur 1987
Cardiff 2001

I have discovered people and poetry again. Today I work more with non- profit groups and interesting people, less with developers. I am still happily married to Marguerite (29 years 5/26/2001).

One day at a time, I have learned to chop wood and carry water, in a real estate way. I have learned that real estate is a humane science, that being useful is an end in itself.

And I hope I can be useful to you.
